June 27th, 2009 by Ed | No Comments | Filed in Selling Website Tips

Selling websites, otherwise known as virtual real estate investing, is an online business that has come to stay. Today more and more entrepreneurs are realizing the many benefits and profits potential of doing business on the internet.

To this end, the demand for domain names and websites is continuously increasing. That is where smart web designers and site flippers are ceaselessly making money online by delivering value in exchange for quick cash.

But to successfully make a living online selling websites, you have to offer value that fittingly meets a buyer’s need and not cookie cutter websites that leave much to be desired. No wonder why there are all manners of websites for sale with their owners fruitlessly seeking for buyers for months on end.

I have seen websites get sold 1-2 hours into auction. I have also seen sites re-listed a thousand times with no bid, no enquiries, and no questions being asked from interested buyers. The difference between the two is in the quality of product or service being offered. Does it meet the buyer’s needs? What are the factors considered when building the websites to sell? How do you market your sites for eventual and fast sale? You can get all the answers in my web flip book HERE

However, I will discuss some of the crucial factors that are critical to successfully selling websites in the site flip marketplace. Briefly, they are:

-                      Buying or registering a domain name that is specific to a niche market

-                      Building or constructing pretty and attractive websites

-                      Posting unique and original articles or content on your web pages or blog

Buying or Registering a Domain Name that is Specific to a Niche Market

More often than not, researchers, surfers, internet or affiliate marketers and/or product or service buyers rely on search engines to find the information they are looking for. In turn, search engines rely on keywords or keyword phrases on the content of web pages to return results to info seekers.

So, in order to get the favor and blessing of search engines to rank your URL close to first page results, your first strategy is registering a domain name that is specific to a niche market.

Take for example, “flip website business”. I opted for that niche and decided to register a domain FlipWebsiteForProfits.com. If you go to Yahoo! or Google and type “flip website” without the quote, my URL is on the second page of the returned pages. I am not on the first page yet, but I am getting close to it. This was facilitated by the choice of URL, title, headline and content keywords and key phrases. I cannot emphasize the importance of keywords in domain names enough.

Is Your Domain Name Appropriate for Your Internet Business?

June 25th, 2009 by Ed | No Comments | Filed in Domain Name Tips

Let me ask you, what domain name are you operating your internet business with? I am asking this question because the identity of your business starts with the domain and it is crucial to its success. In real world, you may have noticed that some individuals change their names to reflect what they think they are or believe in. Internet business is no different.

You may be aware that there are few major ways to locate a website online; namely, through direct navigation, web or anchor text link, word of mouth, and so on. And to gain sizeable number of daily targeted traffic to your website, your domain name must reflect the idea/objective/content of that website. That, to my mind, is the surest way to guarantee high conversion rate from your web visitors.

Take, for example, JobSearch.com. This website may not find a hard time attracting organic traffic as much as possible from the job searching surfers. Specific domains are search engine as well as human friendly. At a glance, you will be able to gauge what the website is all about with the help of the targeted domain name.

It is easy to build one way backlinks with keyword rich anchor text to the website that has a laser-targeted domain. Assuming I have posted an article in one of the free article directories with the title: “Domain Name Tips”. If my resource box has my URL as DomainNameTips.com and an anchor text link as “Domain Name Tips”, then I have a high chance of ranking on the first page on search engines when surfers are searching for that keyword phrase, holding other factors constant.

The bottom line of what I am writing is that your domain name must, of necessity, be appropriate for your internet business. There are a lot of advantages to it. You can effortlessly promote your online business over time thereby gaining high visibility. Your web visitors can easily remember your name too. It is not difficult to brand the domain name. In flip website business, these are referred to as characteristics of good domain names. Even in the event of selling your website, buyers will be willing to have it. There is, however, nothing wrong if you register a name of your bricks-and-mortar business. You can do URL forwarding from one to the other as the case may be. Remember that the success or failure of an online business starts with a domain name.
